coercion, primarily in First World—Third World relations, and he has been published in World Politics and
The Journal of Developing Areas. Starting in the 1980s, Professor Olson was awarded major research grants by the National Science Foundation (NSF) and turned his attention to the political economy of disaster and especially to the political problems associated with hazard mitigation and disaster response. Currently, he is finishing a book manuscript entitled, Some Buildings Just Can't Dance: Oakland, California after the Loma Prieta Earthquake, and he was the Principal Investigator on an NSF-supported project, The 1985 Mexico City Disaster and Emergent Organizations: A 10-Case Study. |
