Introduction

HALO is proud to be holding its Second Annual Essay Competition. This competition is open to high school students only (see guidelines for criteria). The winners will be notified via e-mail and will be invited to make a 10-minute PowerPoint presentation of their winning essay at HALO’s "Nurturing Our Youth for The Future" Convention on Friday, January 23^rd, 2009, as part of the Students Forum. Jean Baptiste Point Du Sable is an example of the trajectory (impact) of Haitian immigrants in the United States

Write a concise, but thorough, biography of Jean Baptiste Point Du Sable and name another Haitian who has made a similar contribution to the history of the United States and its impact on the Haitian community today. The essay must be 600 words.
